sax2 simply was using your original configuration file and because of
the driver change it reports that there is no 3D acceleration available
with this driver. After you started from scratch a new detection starts
which sets up the new driver and allows to activate 3D. I can't see a bug
here except a not very comfortable "update" process which could have
updated your old i810 driver based xorg.conf to the new intel driver based
xorg.conf

anyway not a sax bug if you were able to setup the configuration while
starting from scratch

Stefan is there or should there be some magic for such updates ?
