https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=335516 Summary: iMac G4 system freezes during start-up of yaboot from Mini CD (network installation) Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: Macintosh OS/Version: Mac OS X 10.2 Status: NEW Severity: Blocker Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: gillon_devreese@scarlet.be QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Customer **HOW TO REPRODUCE IT : Burned a CD on a PC running Linux 10.2 using the image from http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/10.3/iso/cd/openSUSE-10.3-GM-ppc-m... Had the Mac-OS X boot normally, inserted the CD, rebooted the machine pushing on <alt><cmd><shit><bckspace>. I got the initial prompt asking to boot the 'install', 'slp' or 'rescue' system. Whatever I choose, the system starts to boot displays messages on the initial B&W screen, then messages come in bigger characters, then a white back-ground comes and then all text vanishes and the system seems to hang (but will reboot if I press <ctrl><alt><del>). This all happens so fast, that I can hardly read the text, and note anything. **HARDWARE : iMac, PPC G4 8OOMHz, 256KB level 2 cache, 256MB SDRAM, Ultra ATA disk 80GB, Apple SuperDrive CD/DVD reader, 17" LCD panaromic screen, NVIDIA GeForce MX 32MB DDR graphics card. iMac Part no M8812FN/A; Serial no W82481H4NOS **REQUEST : Of course, getting a ready-made solution would be nice, but I can imagine that PPC support on an old iMac is probably not strategic, so I understand I will have to find my way out. But I would like to get at least a hint how to set options on yaboot, or how to capture its output that I can start figuring out what is happening. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
