The german release notes contain a mistranslation:

in eine virtuelle Konsole bevor der Partitionierer startet und geben das
folgende Kommando ein:
hwprobe=-modules.pata

Entering this command in a tty will do exactly nothing (except setting a
useless variable ;-)  but no visible output), which makes this tip useless.
The correct wording would be:

    Um den Support für mehr als 15 Partitionen zu aktivieren, 
    booten Sie mit folgendem Kernel-Parameter:
