It does not happen to me. setfont is happy after 10.2 -> 10.3 update.

The code changed betwen 10.2 and 10.3, we removed some compatibility cruft with 
old kernels during bug #302010. 

Could you please try if the old kbd package from 10.2 behaves the same on the
updated 10.3 box?
