Looking into this further, I've found that:

1. yast2-gtk package selector in 10.3 is broken because it lists all kinds of
stuff inside the pattern
2. Earlier comments about not being able to install xen via the pattern are
correct. If you use yast2-qt's package selector, you still end up with an
incomplete xen install (i.e., no kernel-xen-* is installed)
3. Some bugfixes in yast2-gtk's SVN have been added that fix the pattern
installs so that it matches what yast2-qt does

I'll get the patches/fixes from yast2-gtk's SVN and submit them as patches to
10.3 to at least get the pattern installs fixed. Beyond that, however, the
problem of getting Xen to install via a pattern install is still broken.
