hi,
tried the same and the usb-hd does not show up.

i tried verbose mode but no further information. maybe this i related to 
Bug 331054 and others. There is a bunch of USB-floppy/stick/Hd/modem not
detected.


btw:
the driver shows up in dmesg and can be manualy mounted
