Ok, well this looks like a program bug unless there's an Oops in your
/var/log/messages (or dmesg output).
open("/dev/ttyUSB0", O_RDWR|O_NOCTTY|O_NONBLOCK) = 3
close(3) = 0
open("/dev/ttyUSB0", O_RDWR|O_NOCTTY|O_NONBLOCK) = 3
This means that the tty has been opened, closed, and reopened successfully. The
kernel is recognizing and making the device available via that node.
I'm not sure what else I can do for you if the program is seg faulting.
Is there an oops or it the program itself?
