After working around 334624, I had a working desktop extending across both
monitors. Find the Erik-modified xorg.conf in 334624.

Everything seemed to be working fine, but then the left display blanked for
half a second a came back. When this happens, the DVI icon from the monitor
panel comes on itself. To me, this means the panel may have thought it lost
the DVI signal for a moment.

The panel on the right, connected to TMDS-2, is fine.
The panel on the left, connected to TMDS-1, has the blanking problem.

It started out as just once in a while, but it seems to vary and as I type,
it's happening enough where I can't use that half of my desktop for anything.

I know I probably got the Component wrong but I don't know enough about
graphics
to understand if this is a kernel driver issue, or an X11 issue, or what.

I don't mention this to be annoying -- just as a data point -- ubuntu 7.10rc
does not suffer from this problem. My xorg.conf isn't exactly the same there,
but it works perfectly with extended desktop. Although, ubuntu didn't
configure
xorg.conf right to start off with - sort of their version of bug 334624.

This is why I don't believe this to be a hardware problem with the
embeded graphics chip, the ADD2 card, or the panel -- it works fine in
ubuntu...
And even worse (clap of thunder), it works fine in Windows XP - which I used
just to verify hardware functionality of this bug and 334624.

I'll have to use a different OS until this is resolved or I figure out I can
fix it myself and it was pilot error on my part. I can try things though, and
give more info as needed.
