Werner: I'm not sure it's a kernel bug but it has nothing to do with userland.
It's either a kernel bug or funky firwmare on the drive.

John: sd_start_stop_device() issues STOP which gets translated into 0xe0
(Standby immediate) && any command can preceded standby immediate. It really
sounds like a funky firmware to me. Please apply the attached patch and report
what happens. Thanks.
