the same thing happens to me, i tryed latest version from Factory
(libmysqlclient15-5.0.45-25.i586.rpm, libmysqlclient_r15-5.0.45-25.i586.rpm,
mysql-query-browser-5.0r12-66.i586.rpm) but problem remain. I installed also
latest staticaly linked version from mysql.org
mysql-gui-tools-5.0r12-linux-i386.tar.gz but problem still remains. I tryed to
connect to local database via port or socket file and i tryed to connect to
remote database - in all cases i got the same problem :(
