Summary: OCFS2 start freezes opensuse 10.3 X64
Product: openSUSE 10.3
Version: Final
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3
Status: NEW
Severity: Critical
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Network
AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: carsten@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
QAContact: qa@xxxxxxx
Found By: Corporate Interoperability Test
I like to use OCFS2 and ISCSI!
For this I install ocfstools and ocfsconsole (1.2.6-18). In a terminal session
I configured OCFS2 with "/etc/init.d/o2cb configure" and enabled it with
"/etc/o2cb enable". If I now start the ocfs2console I can see my ISCSI Disk as
unmounted device and can also examine the folders on it in the second tab of
the console. After selecting the menuitem for node configuration the complete
system freezes!
After a restart I tried a manually config of the node in
"/etc/ocfs2/cluster.conf" by copying a working cluster.conf from an opensuse
10.2 system! If I now start OCFS2 with "/etc/init.d/ocfs2 start" or either with
"/etc/init.d/o2cb enable" the system freezes too.
After each crash I have to start the rescue system, mount my root volume, must
disable the ocfs2 service and the cluster.conf.
I have tried to setup a new cluster too. Because first I supposed a
incompatibility between the ocfstools 1.2.6-18 and the existing cluster.
If I setup OCFS2 as a new cluster or either if I setup OCFS2 against the
existing cluster: I am definitely not able to start the OCFS2 service without a
complete system freeze!
It seems that the provided ocfstools are incompatible to the ocfs2 kernel
module! Otherwise I shouldn’t see folders at the unmounted device in
ocfs2console.
Unfortunately there are no entries in the log! The system crashes without
logging.
FYI: Since I disabled the ocfs2 services the system runs stable since two days!
Kernel: vmlinux-2.6.22.9-0.4-default
Hardware: asus p5wdg2-ws / intel dual core cpu / 8GB ram
