Neither Tomcat5 nor Tomcat55 does a successful start after installation or from
Yast/System/Services.

The /usr/share/tomcat5(5)/start.log file says something like "no JAVA_HOME
defined"
There is a NEW FILE not in the 10.2 version called 
/etc/tomcat5(5)/tomcat5(5).conf
and in there there is a BLANK entry for JAVA_HOME which turns out to have to be
something like
/usr/lib/jvm/java 
or 
/usr/lib64/jvm/java
which is hardly intuitive for any Java developer I have met, however...
Set this and it all starts OK...
