Ugh. Another HPA (Host Protected Area) problem. This fix was introduced because
other users were running into problems with their disks. Suddenly the disk
ended up being smaller than originally reported, and they were seeing problems
as well. We've found that as a general solution, ignoring the HPA has worked.
It seems as though this is a special case.
Does booting with libata.ignore_hpa=0 work for you?
