i have / had a huge bug running at id 330705

please read through

it seems that its actually two bugs, so i apparently need to file a separate
bugreport for the grub-crash part.


i have attached the latest y2logs to the other bug already, please take a look
into it why grub keeps crashing:

basic thing: old clean opensuse 10.2 system, using pata devices. fstab lists
/dev/hdaX devices for example.


when upgrading this type of system to opensuse 10.3 (goldmaster, dvd media
download) grub crashes when trying to install/upgrade the bootloader at the
last step in the first stage, something like the following lines:
