If you can access a share without any authentication then it is not a bug in
libsmbclient it is a bug on Windows. Samba is not managing the permissions of
the Windows machine.
If you don't get an authentication dialog then there is no login required. If
you get "Access denied", then the user doesn't have the permissions to browse
the share.
As there a no log files or any network captures I close this as invalid.
