Please provide exact URL of initrd file you downloaded.
Please explain what makes you think that the initrd file on the two
servers you mention differs from the initrd file from
http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/10.3/repo/oss/boot.
Did you check if the latter works, or did you check only the two copies
you downloaded from a mirror?
