Well it is not a bug just my lack of information. Apparently the driver
installed through package management is the latest 8.41 .... this driver does
not work except with the RadeonHD 2xxx cards....i am installing the older 8.40
driver and will report back if it does not work......i panicked i guess but i
shouldn't have had to dig for info this critical....the one click installer
should be as up to date as possible but should a) provide functionality for the
greatest number of users or b) have a warning and provide the alternate driver
--Oh what i wouldn't give to able to tinker on my projects full time--
