Attachment #177287 shows:
----------------------------------------------------------------
DeviceURI socket://192.168.1.3:9101
State Stopped
StateMessage /usr/lib/cups/backend/socket failed
----------------------------------------------------------------
which indicates that the communication between PC and
Jetdirect printserver box failed.
As root do "cupsenable DJ895Cxi" to re-enable the stopped queue.
Did you also use the "socket" backend in previous openSUSE versions?
When the communication to the printer is unstable, it results
"garbage printing" because the print-data stream gets distorted.
The solution of this problem is to get a relaible working
communication between PC and printer.
To find out why the CUPS backend failed:
1: Set the "LogLevel debug" in /etc/cups/cupsd.conf.
2: Stop cupsd.
3: Move /var/log/cups/error_log to another location (or delete it)
in order to avoid having to search through gigantic log files.
4: Start cupsd.
5: Print exactly one smaller document which fails to print.
Repeat steps 2, 3, 4, and 5 until exactly one printout fails.
6: cp /var/log/cups/error_log /tmp/error_log
7: Attach /tmp/error_log as mime-type "text/plain" to this bug.
Note:
Explicitely coose mime-type "text/plain" when you attach plain text files.
The Bugzilla default/fallback is "application/octet-stream" which is
not suitable for plain text attachments.
