What window manager do you use?
Does numlock change state of diode when keyboard is broken?
Is there anything weird in output of "dmesg" or in Xorg.log?
If you have another machine available try to ssh to box with broken keyboard (
when keyboard is broken ) and stop xserver via runing "rcxdm ( rckdm, rcgdm )
stop" ( requires root privileges ) alternatively you can create script that
does this for you and add it to menu or desktop ( you can even copy&paste
commands to terminal with your mouse). If keyboard works after this in
framebuffer console it's probably xserver/window manager problem and you can
easily save logs from /var/log.
