https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=331667 Summary: /home not mounted via nfs Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: richard.bos@xs4all.nl QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Beta-Customer Just installed a fresh copy of openSUSE-10.3 on a system that ran openSUSE-10.2 before. /home is usually mounted from an nfs server. With this openSUSE version however, the mount is not performed automatically. The /home mountpoint has been configured with yast's partioner and it's NFS option. This resulted in the following /etc/fstab option:
grep /home /etc/fstab eos:/home /home nfs defaults 1 2
eos can be reached:
ping eos PING eos.radoeka.nl (192.168.4.1) 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from eos.radoeka.nl (192.168.4.1): icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.154 ms 64 bytes from eos.radoeka.nl (192.168.4.1): icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=0.161 ms
The thing is that /home is not automatically mounted during boot. I need to execute the command "mount -a" to get /home mounted. This is rather annoying as I want the system to login automatically into my user session.... In /var/log/messages I see the following message: med103:/etc # grep nfs /var/log/messages Oct 6 17:07:34 med103 rpc.statd[4720]: statd running as root. chown /var/lib/nfs/sm to choose different user Oct 6 19:16:31 med103 rpc.statd[4140]: statd running as root. chown /var/lib/nfs/sm to choose different user Oct 6 19:27:10 med103 rpc.statd[4079]: statd running as root. chown /var/lib/nfs/sm to choose different user Oct 7 09:26:46 med103 rpc.statd[3779]: statd running as root. chown /var/lib/nfs/sm to choose different user Oct 7 10:28:00 med103 rpc.statd[3603]: statd running as root. chown /var/lib/nfs/sm to choose different user Oct 7 21:33:44 med103 rpc.statd[3683]: statd running as root. chown /var/lib/nfs/sm to choose different user med103:/var/lib/nfs/sm # ls -l * -rw------- 1 root root 792 Oct 7 22:51 eos.radoeka.nl med103:/var/lib/nfs/sm # cat eos.radoeka.nl 0100007f 000186b5 00000003 00000010 c0a80401000000000000000000000000 192.168.4.1 med103 0100007f 000186b5 00000003 00000010 c0a80401000000000000000000000000 192.168.4.1 med103 0100007f 000186b5 00000003 00000010 c0a80401000000000000000000000000 192.168.4.1 med103 .... I think that is all info I have. If more is needed please let me know. NFS worked good on openSUSE-10.3, I wonder what is wrong in 10.3 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
