Summary: gphoto2 cannot download files larger than 2GB from PTP
USB class digital camera
Product: openSUSE 10.3
Version: Final
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Mobile Devices
AssignedTo: behlert@xxxxxxxxxx

gphoto2 fails to download any file larger than 2GB. This includes using the
command line client gphoto2, digiKam and Konqueror.

Steps to reproduce (I used a Canon Powershot TX1):

1. Take a long video greater than 2GB (I took a 11 min, 2.5GB clip) on a PTP
Class USB Device (All Canon Powershot/Ixus/EPIH I think)
2. plug the camera in. Select 'Open with new window' or 'Detect and Download
with digiKam'.
3. attempt the copy the file. after downloading 2GB it will fail with a KIO
error message like 'the camera:/usb:/001,002 protocol failed unexpectedly'
4. repeat with digiKam, same problem but less clear error message
5. repeat using gphoto2 -P "/store_00010001/DCIM/100CANON/" (directory canon
cams). Same. gphoto reports "unexpected error" leaving a ~2GB partly downloaded
file in the current directory.
6. use the on-camera builtin editing functions to split the file into smaller
pieces, and notice the files download successfully using any of the 3
frontends.
