Ok. Let's get back to technical details. The changes in p_pci-off-by-one.diff*
affect directly or indirectly the functions
xf86GetPciDomain(...)
linuxOpenLegacy(...)
xf86MapDomainIO(...)
(change in xf86MapDomainMemory is only a warning fix for 'unused variable')
in linuxPci.c.
Indeed these are all defined inside a !INCLUDE_XF86_NO_DOMAIN block. In Pci.c
the same functions are defined inside a INCLUDE_XF86_NO_DOMAIN block.
INCLUDE_XF86_NO_DOMAIN is set on %ix86/x86_64, whereas it is not set
on ia64 (see Pci.h). I could verify in the debugger, that the functions in
Pci.c are used on x86_64. So this patch does not explain the hangup for
%ix86/x86_64. But there's still this 'empty patch' ...
