--- Comment #25 from Petr Gajdos
This problem (not including man -k) isn't in package man-pages for sles9, or is it?
The problem exists in that the incorrect man page is shown regardless of how you man for the ipcs command on sles9. See my comment #16 for an example.
Yes, I have read your comment #16 of course and I understand what's wrong. But I haven't understood yet why is ipcs.1p prefered prior to ipcs.8 while SECTION contains 8 before 1p. Simple example (sles9): dhcp4:/usr/share/man/man1p# cp ../man8/halt.8.gz halt.1p.gz dhcp4:/usr/share/man/man1p# man halt Formátuji halt(1p), prosím počkejte chvíli... ^^^^
From comment in /etc/manpath.config to SECTION variable: ---cut--- # Section names. Manual sections will be searched in the order listed here; # the default is 1, n, l, 8, 3, 2, 5, 4, 9, 6, 7. Multiple SECTION # directives may be given for clarity, and will be concatenated together in # the expected way. # If a particular extension is not in this list (say, 1mh), it will be # displayed with the rest of the section it belongs to. The effect of this # is that you only need to explicitly list extensions if you want to force a # particular order. Sections with extensions should usually be adjacent to # their main section (e.g. "1 1mh 8 ..."). ---end cut---
I feel that problem is maybe in the last sentence of comment (which maybe has less significance in 10.2), or not? If I put 8 at the first place, all was ok.
Remember, I don't care which approach is taken to solve this issue. If there
Yes, but you said ---cut--- Why are we not touching the man-pages package on SLES9? ---end cut--- as well. And what I need is to be ensured that it is problem on side of man-pages package. (In reply to comment #24 from Karl Eichwalder)
I'd say the reference pages should go into a subpackage on its own which is not to be installed by default.
Ok. It would be good againist man -k. I have two questions in this way: * Which man-pages are inteded to put to such package? * Assume, that someone will install man-pages and man-pages-for-reference (or whatever :)), so both ipcs.1p and ipcs.8 will be installed. What will do man ipcs on sles9 in this case? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
