An idea I thought might be nice for the future. 

Turn the "Create Image" into a dialog box with a progress bar (I guess extra
work would need to be done on tracking kiwi's progress), and above it could
have the text of the relevant section, i.e.:

  |        Compressing Image...       |
  |######################             |
  |             Abort                 |
  |___________________________________|


..sorry for the crude portrayal.

If there's an error then that small bottom pane could be shown with the error
output, and on fail/success there could be a button along the lines of "View
Full output" or "Save Output to File.."

I think this could be nice, just an idea =)
