If a connection to the repository fails (network or host is down) then the
client tools do not handle the error but simply report it via STDOUT over the
console - for the console tools.

In the case of host failure then the tools fail to recognize the network
failure during the diff of local vs remote profiles and report repository
profiles as new profiles to be uploaded. Then they detect the network failure
on upload and report an error uploading - yuk. There needs to be a change to
detect the network failure and report it to the user and allow them to try
again or disable the repo for this run of the tools.
