I am trying to configure my graphics card to a native LCD resolution, with 3D
acceleration, if possible. I am able to install and configure binary Nvidia
driver (on compatible versions of kernel/nvidia), but my customers are not. So
I am trying to suggest ways to make it easier. Some of which SUSE has used in
the past.

I do not know where do you see politics in that.

Ubuntu is as hostile to binary drivers as the new Suse (or Novel, whatever).
But customer comes first, and Ubuntu makes it easy, so a complete beginner can
do it. You choose to ignore customers' needs for the sake of politics.
