[Bug 326376] DNS hangs/errors

Unlikely for being a general network problem when only 10.3 hosts are affected.
To rule out the network you could try to ping another host which is as well
connected to the same local switch in your office.
Keep also in mind that ping tries to resolve the name when using an IP address
as ping target.
Does "ping -n" work?
