During installation on the second disk, grub cannot be forced to be installed
into the mbr of the second disk, only into any usable partition of any disk,
and into the mbr of the first disk.
A portable test installation on a portable usb or firewire disk is a normal
behavior in a development and testing environment. This disk should be
independently bootable. Modern bios and efi allows booting from a second disk.
Suggestion: add the mbr of any available disk into the list of manually
selectable bootloader locations.
