HP/Compaq nc6400 has IrDA onboard, that is based on SMC SuperIO chip. When
modperobe'ing smsc-ircc2 module it fails:
[superuser@shark :: ~]modprobe smsc-ircc2
FATAL: Error inserting smsc_ircc2
(/lib/modules/2.6.22.5-340-default/kernel/drivers/net/irda/smsc-ircc2.ko): No
such device
Here's 'dmesg' output:
found SMC SuperIO Chip (devid=0x7a rev=01 base=0x004e): LPC47N227
smsc_superio_flat(): fir: 0x100, sir: 0x3e8, dma: 03, irq: 7, mode: 0x0e
smsc_ircc_present: can't get sir_base of 0x3e8
IrDA port is enabled in BIOS and is seen in WinXP with DMA3, IRQ7 and ports
0x3E8 (can post screenshot from Device Manager if necessary).
