And I tell you: remove this options, if you state Use.htm you may read
also the lines before:

Users will rarely need to modify these. Note that these are parameters to be
set with the -d switch in the command line (e.g., -dMaxBitmap=10000000), not
resources to be defined in the ~/.Xdefaults file.

To be noted the gv cpommand does not have this problem. OK I'm using
ghostscript 8.60 here (see bug #297524c#3)
