The log looks like everything worked fine, just like you immediately resumed by
pressing the powerbutton. I assume you did not do that :-)

Please try the following as root:

echo 'shutdown method = shutdown' >> /etc/suspend.conf

and then try again.

I'll change the bug's subject, since this is no longer a GUI issue but a kernel
issue now.
