update: 

the file selector box for saving y2log.tgz (from Extras -> generate ...) has
similar problems:  again I selected /mnt/root/s103/ as output directory and
after "save" I got some strace "error ... -1" and had to generate the data
again (no 2nd chance to save to *.tgz -- and generating this resolver test case
data taaaaakeeees tiiiiiimmeeeeee:-((
