I just tested it:

- upgrade update-test-affects-package-manager _package_ to 99-99 with YOU and 
  force the updater to check for updates: 
  the updater is unblocked and lists the other updates (like the other 
  update-test-* packages)

- downgrade update-test-affects-package-manager _package_ to 0-1.3 again,
  using the version tab in YaST.
  IMPORTANT: Do NOT uninstall the _patch_ even if the conflicts dialog tells 
  you to do so - choose "ignore dependency".
  (I'm quite sure there wasn't a conflict when downgrading the update-test 
  packages directly after the upgrade to beta3, but have no idea why...)
