try one of these 2 methods:
1. go to an empty desktop, right click on it, select configure desktop, go to
the last voice (dysplay) and there select the 2 options in the down most:
"apply settings at every kde start" and the inner one: "let the system tray
apps modify start settings"
if the first doesn't work try the second thing:
2. create an application shortcut with the name KNetworkManager or whatever you
like, then move it to the /home/user/.kde/Autostart where user is the user name
for which you want to enable the kde autostart program. this works and it can
start whatever apps you'll want to.
