https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=308022
Summary: libssui - Fails to work properly when kdm is set as the
display manager
Product: openSUSE 10.3
Version: Beta 3
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Major
Priority: P5 - None
Component: GNOME
AssignedTo: cgaisford@xxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: eward@xxxxxxxxxx
QAContact: eward@xxxxxxxxxx
Found By: ---
Builds:

http://kirk.provo.novell.com/dist/install/openSUSE-10.3-Beta3/openSUSE-10.3-Beta3-DVD-i386.iso
libssui-0.5.7-12
Problem -
If the display manager is set to kdm, then libssui doesn't work properly (ie
can't restart or shutdown the system, the switch user dialog does not get
populated with the available users, etc).
Steps to Reproduce -
- As root install and configure kdm
yast -i kdebase3-kdm
- Change the following setting in /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager
from
DISPLAYMANAGER="gdm"
to
DISPLAYMANAGER="kdm"
- Run SuSEconfig
- Reboot the System
- Login to a gnome desktop
- Attempt to shutdown the system or switch users.
Expected Behavior -
The same functionality works in SLED10 SP1 when kdm is the display manager, so
it should also work the same in openSUSE 10.3
