https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=307429 Summary: YaST Network Configuration insists on ipw-firmware Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Beta 2 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: lenz@grimmer.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- I installed 10.3b2 from the KDE-CD, which did not include the ipw-firmware package. As I don't have an ethernet connection, I was therefore not able to perform an installation that uses an Internet connection. However, I was able to copy the missing firmware files into /lib/firmware from another root file system (a 10.2 system), thus the ipw2200 kernel module loaded fine. However, I still could not use the YaST2 network configuration to set up my WLAN connection, as it insisted on having to install "ipw-firmware" first. While I appreciate that it tries to keep the system in a consistent state, I think it would be great to have an option to override this requirement here (as the interface was indeed working properly already). Would it be possible to add a "Skip" option to this dialogue, so I could proceed to the Network configuration anyway? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
