Also, this is quite a usability problem. I have not tried, but i believe if any
of the .repo files cause such an exception to be thrown, applications won't be
able to do anything where knownRepositories() is used. E.g. if one of the repo
files contains a malformed URL, apps will fail even if the rest of the repo
files are OK.

knownRepositories() should always return all the repo files which are correct,
but how to report those faulty?
