Yeap, that's amd74xx and it isn't more tolerant. It's just quicker to give up
on DMA and fall back to PIO, which isn't necessarily a good thing. In your
case, the drive + cable combination can do UDMA33 okay, libata falls back to
UDMA33 after some more tries while IDE gives up early and falls back to PIO
directly. Your drive will be dog slow in PIO mode.
Anyways, you have a hardware problem. For some reason, your host + cable +
drive combination can't run at the reported max speed. Please try the
followings.
* Reseat the cable.
* Swap the drive and ODD such that the drive is connected at the end of the
cable.
* Disconnected the ODD and leave only the hard drive connected to the end of
the cable.
