https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=307053 Summary: Kinternet reports wireless connected even if connection fails Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Beta 2 Platform: i386 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: lyndon@ljkroker.net QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Beta-Customer I have a laptop which has the Intel PRO/Wireless 2200 chipset (ipw2200 kernel module). I have two wireless networks at my house protected by WEP. When I switch from one network to the other, KInternet always reports a successful connection (You connected successfully to: xxxxxx) even if the connection fails. This can be seen by a lack of an IP address in the output from "ifconfig eth1". Switching from one wireless network to the other usually fails. Switching only works reliably if I first stop the wireless connection by clicking the icon in the system tray and then choose the other network from the "Wireless Connection..." menu item. Another issue is that KInternet does not seem to be able to remember the WEP hex password for previously authenticated networks. However, when rebooting the machine it, *does* remember the WEP key used during the previous session and connects automatically which is great. It would be nice if KInternet could remember previously entered WEP passwords. It should try a previously entered key, and only if that key doesn't work should it then prompt the user to re-enter a new key. Interestingly, if I try switching networks and leave the password field blank, and just press OK, KInternet tries to connect to the new network using the current HEX key (i.e. the old key). Hope this help. Lyndon -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
