Summary: cannot configure network interface
Product: openSUSE 10.3
Version: Beta 2
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3
Status: NEW
Severity: Critical
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Installation
AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: tilman@xxxxxxx
QAContact: jsrain@xxxxxxxxxx
Found By: Beta-Customer
Installed openSUSE 10.3 Beta2 x86_64 DVD5 on an Intel DQ965GF mainboard with an
onboard Intel E1000 network adapter. After the first reboot, the "Network
Configuration" page shows, under the "Network Interfaces" heading:
Intel Ethernet controller - not configured
Clicking the "Network Interfaces" heading and selecting "Configure" on the
network interface configuration page, it shows the configuration page but no
matter what I do there, after clicking "OK", the "Network Configuration" page
still shows the interface as not configured.
If continue the installation, the resulting system has no network connectivity.
"rcnetwork restart" displays the error message:
No configuration found for eth0
If I run yast network card configuration, the interface shows as "not
configured". I select the interface, click on "configure", set whatever I want,
click on "OK", and the interface still shows up as "not configured" and will
not work.
