Magnus, that was my point. Sorry if it wasn't clear. Michael was concerned
about people who don't use KDE or GNOME (or XFce I guess) and so may not have a
notification area and the icon showing then. My point was that for those
people, the only option would be to set it to 'Never' but that that's not a
reasonable default for the majority of users.
If someone chooses to run a desktop/WM other than GNOME or KDE then they likely
expect to need to change some settings in apps targeted at those DEs.
