upgrade from fresh 10.2 to 10.3b2 on mac.suse.de

after boot, kde somehow triggers an updating check.
On all other hosts I tried it so far, a popup simply tells me:

  Repository 'openSUSE-10.3-DVD 10.3' is invalid.
  Valid metadata not found at specified URL(s)
  Please, check if the URLs defined to this repository are pointing to a valid
repository.
  Disabling repository 'openSUSE-10.3-DVD 10.3' because of the above error.

on mac.suse.de, glibc malloc checks trigger and kill zypper.
