https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=301073 Summary: xen domU systems cannot obtain DHCP lease from LAN Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Beta 1 Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Xen AssignedTo: cgriffin@novell.com ReportedBy: grok@tnt.pl QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Beta-Customer Overview: The default installation of xen does not allow for the domU machine to obtain IP address from the LAN's DHCP server. Steps to reproduce: 0) Instruct local DHCP server to assign a static IP to 00:16:3e:12:34:56. 1) Install openSUSE 10.3 Beta1 together with Xen tools. 2) In Yast, create a paravirtualised system: - paravirtualised NIC with pre-set mac address (as above) attached to "Default" bridge - supply installation source as http://ip/path - supply autoyast source as http://ip/path/ 3) Boot domU machine Actual results: The domU asks for DHCP lease, stops and eventually gives up trying to obtain IP address via DHCP. No entries in DHCP server log files about this MAC address. Expected results: domU should obtain IP address from the LAN DHCP server. Packages: xen-doc-pdf-3.1.0_15042-26 xen-libs-3.1.0_15042-26 xen-tools-3.1.0_15042-26 xen-tools-ioemu-3.1.0_15042-26 xen-doc-html-3.1.0_15042-26 xen-3.1.0_15042-26 kernel-xenpae-2.6.22.1-16 2.6.22.1-16-xenpae i686 Additional information: This may be my wrong understanding of the process, however I would expect the virtualised system to operate in the way described above. Unknown if domU can talk to LAN at all (not tested). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
