https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=300750 Summary: yast2-gtk: package manager: quick search and sorting are sorely needed in plain view Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Beta 1 Platform: All OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: yast2-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: jdluhos@novell.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- The plain view of the package manager contains too much packages to be comfortable (should be thousands if it really shows all available packages), even when only the basic repositories are installed. If the user adds another repositories (I would expect at least Packman), the situation will get worse. It is really hard to orient in this. We need a quick search feature so that the user can quickly limit the packages being shown to those with names starting with the given substring. The default search field is not enough because it searches substrings everywhere, both in names and in descriptions, and is therefore too slow and gives too much results. Another almost necessary feature is to be able to sort (not filter) according to whether the package is installed or is not installed, whether a new version is available, which repository it belongs to, and which group it belongs to. I believe this should be done in 10.3 because otherwise the Gtk package manager is next to unusable. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
