Ok, so the devices in /etc/fstab changing on mount -a make sense since its
probably going from device available (but not mounted state) to device mounted
state.
Are the two in the screenshot in #2 in /etc/fstab? If so, i believe what will
happen is they will be shown on the desktop regardless of whether the media is
mounted or not (this is useful for drives that can't be polled like floppies).
