Summary: IDE drive set to slave (no master) takes a long time to
fail installation
Product: openSUSE 10.3
Version: Beta 1
Platform: i586
OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Installation
AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: bob_l_lewis@xxxxxxxxx
QAContact: jsrain@xxxxxxxxxx
Found By: Beta-Customer
Ok, I messed up and had my IDE hard drive set
for slave. After quite a long time a small one line
message warned me that no harddrive was present.
However, I went on for grins and then I got to the
prompt to install the repositories. Before the
actual hard failure where the file system would be
created a lot of time passed.
I think it would have been better to have checked
early on for a proper hard drive and if not found
then abort.
This is easy to reproduce so I am not including the
logs. Just strap your primary drive as a slave
and have fun.
