--- Comment #3 from Johannes Meixner 2007-08-14 07:05:40 MST ---
It is intentionally listed in the SANE description files.
E.g. enter "08ff" as USB vendor ID in
http://www.sane-project.org/cgi-bin/driver.pl
and follow the link "MD 85264" which leads to
http://gkall.hobby.nl/authentec.html
Meanwhile I wonder if it does really make no sense to launch YaST
even for scanners which are unsupported because in YaST the user
will see that this device is unsupported.
YaST shows the device as follows:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Medion/Lifetec/Tevion/Cytron MD 85264:
This scanner is not supported. (USB-ID 0x08ff:0x2580)
[Fingerprint sensor. See http://www.sane-project.org for details]
--------------------------------------------------------------------
This way the user is informed about the facts - even if he may not
like them - but at least it saves him time with hopeless attempts
when he is trying to set up his unsupported device.
I think I should keep it as is and set the report to "invalid"
because I think it works as intended and as good as possible.
