https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=299851 Summary: Default Grub Setting destroys working dual-boot config from setup-routine Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.2 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: stefan.schubert@midray.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Hi, I have a dual-boot system with winXP and opensuse10.2. I installed opensuse via the DVD and accepted default settings for using the grub bootloader. Installation procedure was perfect and I could use opensuse and winxp from grubs dual boot menu. However afterwards I found out that I needed the winxp as default entry in the boot menu. So I went to the bootloader config from yast system settings and changed the bootorder there and clicked OK for installing the changed configuration. This lead to a system which was not bootable at all. I haven't fixed it yet and switched back to winXP booting by chaning the boot flag back to my first partition (winxp). Somehow the default settings here are incompatible with the automatic choise at installation. I'm worried, that I could destroy winxp boot mechanismen by experimenting any further.
