https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=297606 Summary: Cannot configure MCP61 Ethernet device using YaST Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Alpha 7 Platform: 64bit OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mail@rhakios.ukfsn.org QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Beta-Customer MCP61 Ethernet cannot be configured with YaST either during installation or afterwards. Normally it requires the forcedeth driver and lsmod shows that this is loaded. In YaST>Network Devices>Network Card>Overview tab, no devices are shown. After creating my own /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth0 and inputting gateway and DNS details, the above tab displays: "Unknown Network Device (not connected) Unable to configure network card because kernel device is not present" despite the fact that it is now working.
