https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=297226 Summary: mkinitrd creation problems Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Alpha 7 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jengelh@gmx.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Beta-Customer With the new mkinitrd logic in alpha7, I get: # mkinitrd Kernel image: /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.22.1-default (self-compiled) Initrd image: /boot/initrd-2.6.22.1-default Root device: /dev/disk/by-path/pci-0000:00:10.0-scsi-0:0:0:0-part2 (/dev/sda2) (mounted on / as xfs) Root device: /dev/disk/by-path/pci-0000:00:10.0-scsi-0:0:0:0-part2 (/dev/sda2) (mounted on / as xfs) Kernel Modules: scsi_mod scsi_transport_spi mptbase mptscsih mptspi fan xfs edd sd_mod af_packet mii pcnet32 sunrpc nfs_acl lockd nfs **************************** * WARNING * No fsck for your rootfs * could be found. * This might be bad! * Please install: /sbin/fsck.nfs **************************** Features: block network nfs resume.kernel End result: it does not boot at all, because /dev/sda2 does not show up, reason being that sd_mod is not auto-loaded during initrd bootup (but it is included in the initrd since I can modprobe it). Then, why is it suddently using /dev/disk/by-path? (I suggest that it either remains /dev/sda2 or uses /by-uuid or /by-label. At best, it should use whatever is in /etc/fstab.) And fsck.nfs - this seems bogus. Is there a way to turn off inclusion of NFS and resume.kernel? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
